Oh art, how I love thee!

I have been a avid fan of visual and performing arts since my school days (where you would either find me in the art, drama or music room!). Fresh from school I started my journey into the arts through tertiary study.  After taking a paper in film-making I fell in love with cinema and changed direction into performance art.  Peter Jacksons ‘The Lord the Rings’ was a turning point for boosting my creative mind, and sent me to study FX makeup in Auckland, then moving to  New Zealand creative little capital Wellington to further pursue my art career (and subsequently falling in love and marrying my darling man Pete).  I landed my dream job at Weta Workshop, working on ‘The Hobbit’ production in the art department.

I’ve had the pleasure of being a venue coordinator for a large performing arts campus; organised and run theatre makeup work shops;  been part of an amazing team of FX make up artists for The World of Wearable Arts; and other arty projects throughout the years.

A bit of a jack-of-all-trades, I love to paint, film, photograph, sing, perform, sew, and create in many forms.

Motherhood (with my wonderful wee boys Ted and George) led me to take a break from fixed contract work and focus more on freelance opportunities. I love being my own boss and working as an artist, taking on all kinds of jobs and roles.  Right now I am right in the thick of setting up an arts collective in North Canterbury NZ - a passion project and my dream for many years! Here's to my own studio space thats not my cold, dark, dirty garage whoohoo!
